Change the attached template on a project so that it completely overrrides the initial template

For reporting based on template used, we would like to be able to change the template that was initially attached to a project. For example, if project A initially used template B we want it to be allowed to attach template A and remove template B from it entirely.

    Currently, I'm reviewing projects that are on hold and trying to adjust the template to match our business needs. I would like to replace the old template with the new one but am unable to adjust it.

    I have a similar concern where we made some updates to the existing template but unfortunately all projects that already had the template do not reflect the new change and ill need to add them manually again. Hoping for a better solution where any updates made reflect across system
