Can you set a custom field to only accept an email address as an entry?

We have a free text field in a custom form that is specifically for collecting an email address. Sometimes the field is filled out incorrectly, or a typo occurs and the email address is invalid. The email address is used to send a follow up customer service survey so we miss out on sending a survey when an error like this happens.

Workfront has no field validation.

If you go to Innovation Lab and search for "validation" you'll see several entries. This particular entry says it's on the roadmap. There is no ETA though.
