Can you add a Workfront Planning Connection field to a Workfront Report?

I added a Workfront Planning connection field to a custom form and now I want to see the field in a Report or View, however,  I don’t see the field when I try to add a new column. Is this possible?

Thank you!

Are you able to give more details? It’s probably possible in Canvas reporting. Are you signed up for the Canvas beta yet? (the button is available in your dashboards area, you just click to join it)

Thanks for your reply! Basically, I was trying to add a field from Workfront Planning to an existing report but the field isn’t showing up in the search results.

I’m signed up for Canvas beta and I just went in to see if the fields I wanted are there and it looks like they are, but maybe I’m doing something wrong. I get this message when I try to select a field from Planning:

Yep common problem, and I will try and explain.

  1. The first object you pick is the type of report this is. In other words, this is a project report because you picked the project folder first.
  2. Subsequent fields you pick must come from within that first folder. If you navigate out of it and back home and pick another folder, you’re in effect, picking a new report, which is why it tells you that you’ll be deleting your report and starting over (the meaning of that popup).

I’m not quite sure what you’re looking for, but one thing you CAN do, is report on a planning record, and through that, the project it is connected to. This is not much good if you want a list of projects, and only include the planning info if it IS connected but I thought if you haven’t yet tried Canvas, this is a good beginner step to try.

I haven’t tried to see if you can do the reverse (report on a project and through that, the planning record it is connected to) -- but if you CAN do it, you would have to select the planning fields from within the project object. Anyway, I think this is probably what you are trying to do? But not sure.

If you run into any further trouble, or are curious about the roadmap, feel free to sign up for the canvas dashboard webinar at the end of the month. Also feel free to send feedback through the canvas dashboard tool. The product teams do get notified of the feedback you submit.
