Auto-Populate Project Start Date with Earliest Task Start Date

Currently, the project's Planned Completion Date is auto-calculated by the planned completion date of the latest task. We'd like the project's planned start date to have the same sort of functionality. We are using cross-project predecessors more and more but when things are pushed, the project's start date doesn't move in the Portfolio's Gantt Chart.

We are encountering the same issue out of using Gantt charts. The project Start and End dates don't match the actual task dates, which can be a problem when a user copies projects, updates the tasks they need to work on, but neglects to update the project's Start date. If they have a project they run monthly, they typically set up one project and then copy it 12 times. They adjust their task timelines in each, but the Start date for all 12 projects may remain the same.

Hi @-jc,

Particularly if your post is also referring to cross project predecessors (as was Anthony's original), I invite you to review this video (a resource within our Recalc Helper solution) which explains some of the gotchas and remedies around timeline recalculation, in case that helps in your situation.

Regards,

Doug
