Anyone else having issues loading old updates/comments? Related to Q3 2026 'Optimization of comment archiving'

Is anyone else having issues with how comments/updates are loading in Workfront?

We’ve been working with support since yesterday on comment/update display issues. At first comments weren’t loading, then we noticed some comments were missing from projects, but appearing on people’s profile pages.

Support initially thought they had fixed it yesterday, but today we noticed that many older comments (1 year+ old) were not displaying in some cases.

It seems this all might be related to this Q3 2026 update, Optimization of Comment Archiving’:  https://experienceleague.adobe.com/en/docs/workfront/using/product-announcements/product-releases/release-26-q3/26-q3-other#optimization-of-comment-archiving

Support are aware and working on fixing the issue, but I wanted to see if any other Workfront customers were running into the same issue. Let me know, thank you!

We’re also now noticing that some comments that used to be threaded are not showing up as threaded, and are appearing duplicated over and over again as you scroll through a project’s update history.  It seems like the archiving of old comments has things rendering completely out of order.

We were able to confirm this by creating a ‘Note’ report that shows all the comments from a project in chronological order.  The project is only displaying a small subset of the comments listed in the report, and they are not appearing threaded properly in the project.  The report includes a ‘Parent note’ field, so you can see that the system knows where the comment should be, but the process that displays the comment doesn’t seem to be accounting for it correctly.

Overall, this is extremely concerning, given that we use Workfront as a historical system of record for requests within our department.

Has anyone else noticed similar issues, or are we a special case for some reason?

Yes, this persists across browser sessions.  Support has acknowledged it’s a product issue.  We got a little more information today:

“The incident occurred because the historical archive data processing limit was reached, causing historical comment and reply data fetching to be dropped. The federated database also experienced high processing overhead and latency when accessing archived data. A support ticket has been raised with MongoDB to investigate the root cause”
