Any best practices on how to manage the % completed of a task?

Are you setting up an organization wide default of 25%, 50%, 75% then complete? Other rules?

    Most of my agencies have the policy, if the task is longer than 3 days, you definitely have to update the percent complete every 3 days. I have one group of PMs that will update the percent complete after the daily stand ups. They will ask during the meeting how far are you through the task and then just update. But that is one out of 16 groups. ;)
