Actual Completion date - Can you turn off auto-complete/close on task?

Is there a way to disable the auto-close function when a date is entered in the Actual Completion date field for a task? My team needs to track Actual Completion dates on tasks that are delayed or that miss the planned completion date. When the Actual Completion date is entered, the task closes which prevents anyone assigned to the task to add any additional hours. We use our Workfront instance to track time to tasks and overall monthly utilization for our project team members. Team members have up to 1 week following completing project work to submit their time. Once the Actual Completion date is entered, the task closes and team members can no longer add time to the task on their time sheet.

It's not an option to disconnect the actual completion date with the task being marked complete as they are directly related to one another.

  • If the project is still open users should still be able to log hours on completed tasks from the tasks themselves. However, if the project is closed there is a setting in the backend that you can turn on allowing users to log time on completed projects.
  • If they are logging time from the timesheets area make sure that the setting in timesheet preferences allows for complete work to populate.

5. In the Where users can log time section, configure any of the following options:

On projects that are complete Allows users to record time on a project that has been marked complete. If this option is disabled, users cannot record time for the work they have completed on projects in the Complete status.

6. In the Pre-populate timesheets section, configure any of the following options:

Tasks and issues that have been completed If multiple resources are typically assigned to a single task, we recommend this setting. This means when one resource records time against the task and marks it as complete, the other resources assigned to the task can still find the task or the issue in their timesheet, to record their hours.
