I am trying to understand is it possible to use Adobe Target recommendations feature which includes following criteria

  •  which pages visitor are spending most of time
  • their average spending time on entire site
  • recently Viewed + Similar
  • What search query users are using

I see similar questions https://experienceleaguecommunities.adobe.com/t5/adobe-target-questions/custom-criteria-ideas-for-recommendation-for-retails-company/m-p/764426#M12787

I would like to know if this is possible to include all of the above criteria and then recommend meaningful.

Hi @sumantapa

Yes, the listed criteria is correct and relevant to building recommendation activity.  But please check your use cases once and see if use case fits.

Like

  • which pages visitor are spending most of time - using custom events or tracking page views and time spent on specific pages.
  • their average spending time on entire site - create segments of users who are spending more time on the site. These users can be shown "popular" or "trending" items, or shown content based on their interests.
  • recently Viewed + Similar : out-of-the-box criteria available with recently viewed products or recommended for you.
  • What search query users are using - Capture the search queries and based on that you can show recommendations.

For more info check this resource How Do I Use Criteria in Target Recommendations? | Adobe Target

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the helpful input.

Regrading search query use case, how is it possible to send the search term to Target and create recommendation in real time?

And regrading "create segments of users who are spending more time on the site", are you referring to CDP i.e https://experienceleague.adobe.com/en/docs/platform-learn/getting-started-for-data-architects-and-data-engineers/build-segments ?

HI @sumantapa  It really depends on how your tech setup with Adobe tools. At initial level, lets say you have Adobe analytics and Adobe target in this case, you can capture search queries (via Adobe Analytics or via data layers), and you can then leverage this information to create recommendation experiences based on their search behavior.

For the user who is spending a time on site - You can track this with Adobe Analytics or a custom event in Adobe Target to create segments of users who are spending more time on the site.

If you're working with CDP then yes that too possible.
