what's the scenario? lead visited webpage without clicking link in email

I have a standalone page in Marketo without any inbound links other than an email we sent out with a link. When tracking the email I got nearly 300 people clicking the link to the page. However, out of curiosity I ran a list to see who went to the page without clicking the link -- I saw the expected internal people, but also a handful of legit leads. What's the scenario to have that happen? Was there some blocker on their email that didn't track the click?

Hi JD,

There are a number of things that can create discrepancies in reporting so I try to run reports from different angles to try and get as much of a complete picture as I can. A combination of Email Link Performance, Program Performance, Web Page Activity Report and a couple of smart lists on who clicked on the link and on who visited the web page should give you a good idea on what is happening.

and secondarily, when creating tracking reports, should I always track webpage visits instead of email clicks?

Potentially the email could be forwarded to them or someone sent them a direct link to the landing page. Do you distribute your marketing emails to sales? Could they send a direct link to the webpage or could they be posting it on social media?

Just a few ideas.

There's a good chance that this is the case.  Check the Referrer in the lead's activities.  If they have an mkt_tok query parameter, then they received and clicked through a forwarded email.

I have nothing helpful to offer, as others have contributed so well, but I now have an earworm - "Scenario" from A Tribe Called Quest going through my head because of your subject line.
