Setting SFDC campaign start date and status

When creating a NEW SFDC campaign from a Marketo program, is there any way to automatically set the campaign status to "Open" with a start date?  Right now, it creates the campaign with a status of "Planning" with no start date.  The way our SFDC roles are set up, users cannot see the campaign until the status is open with a start date.  So we have to manually adjust all the campaigns that are created from Marketo.
