It's actually just an issue with excel. You can fix it in two seconds:
  1. Select the entire column.
  2. Go to Data > Text to Columns.
  3. Choose "Fixed width."
  4. Remove all break lines.
  5. Set column data format to be the date format you want.
  6. Click "Finish."
  7. If you don't like the format still, you can now use the cell formatting options and it will work as expected.

You don't even need that, this can be done from Excel itself. Just right-click the cells and choose "Format Cells," then pick the formatting you'd like.

I can't figure out why that's not working on these reports I've exported. I have a Campaign Activity Report that will not allow me to format the Last Actvity values into date formats. I'm guessing because the values are General Text like Jan 15, 2014 09:00 AM.

I converted the Excel file that MKTO exports to a .CSV and the values auto-converted to MM/DD/YY HH:MM. This is the best solution.
