Recognizing the Account-Contact Relationship object in Salesforce in native sync

The native sync currently hinges around the core objects of Lead/Contact/Account/Opportunity. I do come across use cases more and more frequently though where the Account-Contact Relationship in SFDC manages more complex relationships between a contact and multiple accounts. Use cases range from external consultants / influencers on more than one company, several sites in different countries within a customer being logged as separate accounts and a stakeholder playing a role in more than one, etc.

The set-up in SFDC prevents the contact being entered more than once to indicate their role in every account effectively, so is really great in avoiding unnecessary duplicates. It would be great if the data model in Marketo would also incorporate this added complexity.

Hi @Katja_Keesom  - I’ve run into this issue several times before, and unfortunately Marketo is blocked from making any fix here.

The issue is that the Salesforce API does not provide visibility to the Account-Contact Relationship object to Marketing Automation integrations.  In order for Marketo to enable a fix, Salesforce would have to make the bridge object available to the API.

If your client wants to provide visibility, my recommendation is that you break this standard functionality and build a custom A/C Relationship object in Salesforce as a Salesforce Custom Object, and then sync that custom object over to Marketo.
