Program Specific Source Tracking

We are looking for a way to track sources at the program level rather than at the database level.

If someone comes into our database from a tradeshow and registers for a webinar from an ad or an email, we would like to be able to report on that even if it is not a lead's first point of entry into our database.

Has anyone been able to find a good solution for this?

Have you considered using the new Program Member Custom Fields? They do have some drawbacks compared to regular fields on the lead record, but are very suitable for a use case like this. You can find more information about them here: https://docs.marketo.com/display/public/DOCS/Program+Member+Custom+Fields

PMCFs sound great on paper, but once it stores the data into the program - and your use case is a perfect example - you can't report on it.  For example, using RCE (program membership report), PMCFs can't be used in RCE.  Nor can they be used in Bizible.  The only thing you can do is view the values in the members tab of the program or run a smart list within the program.  That's it.

@dan_stevens_ true, there still are some limitations there. It would already help if the Program Membership report would allow for custom columns, but it is not the perfect solution just yet.
