  3. Resilience:
    • Some concepts may feel like climbing Everest. Persevere. I will be your Sherpa.
    • When doubt creeps in, remember: You’re not alone on this summit.
    • Be prepared to fail; but learn from failures – your own and others.

What’s Next in Summary:

@zoe_forman  Hi Zoe! I hope it is fine to ask here this, I´m trying to create some local assets within a program (smart list, email and smart campaign) and I´m getting this error:

Does anyone know why I´m getting it and how can I trouble shoot it? I was able to create those local assets an hour ago.

Level 3

@ranakaren18

I asked ChatGPT and this is what it said to try, not sure of accuracy.

The error message indicates a JavaScript loading issue within Adobe Marketo. Here are some steps to troubleshoot and potentially fix this issue:

1. **Clear Browser Cache**: Sometimes cached data can cause issues with loading scripts. Clear your browser cache and cookies, then reload the page.

2. **Try a Different Browser**: Test the page in a different web browser to see if the issue is browser-specific.

3. **Disable Browser Extensions**: Some browser extensions might interfere with scripts. Temporarily disable all extensions and reload the page.

4. **Check Network Connectivity**: Ensure your internet connection is stable and not experiencing any disruptions.

5. **Update Browser**: Ensure your browser is up to date with the latest version, as outdated browsers may not support certain scripts.

6. **Developer Console**: Open the browser’s developer console (usually by pressing F12 or right-clicking the page and selecting "Inspect" or "Inspect Element") and check for any error messages that might give more context to the JavaScript error.

7. **Contact Support**: If the issue persists, contact Adobe Marketo support with the error details, session ID, and any relevant information provided in the error message.

If you try these steps and still encounter issues, please let me know, and we can explore further troubleshooting options.

Hi all,

Let's get started with section 1 - Understanding and Building Programs

You can open the link, read through section 1, which includes 39% of exam questions, in the next week, and post any questions you have in this thread. Questions may relate to the document or your own instance.

At the end of the week, I will have a mini quiz based on the section that is in line with exam questions so you get a feel of the exam style (multiple choice); I will monitor this thread during the week to answer your questions.

1. Understanding Programs

Programs represent a single marketing initiative. You can think of them as containers with all the stuff that you need to make the program work—these are called local assets and include Landing Pages, email, Smart Campaigns, and more. Programs do a lot, but it’s easy to get started.

There are four types of programs:

  1. Event Programs
  2. Engagement Programs
  3. Email Programs
  4. Default Programs

The Understanding Programs section covers details on the 4 types of programs in Marketo: Program Membership, Head Start & Abort Email programs, default programs, cloning, tag used in programs, period costs ($$ spent per activity/lead/new person), Event Channels and look at nurture streams.

I usually post on Sunday evening or Monday morning, but yesterday was Independence Day in the US and a Public holiday in the UK.

For those that havent added an intro or any specific questions please add when you can and follow along with the training sections.

Thanks, Zoe

@zoe_forman - Can you give an other example (or even a few different ones) of default programs?

Hi @canneberg

There are many uses for default programs - default programs can house a wide range of activities within them, from lead scoring to serving as parent programs for sub-programs. They’re like the Swiss Army knife of Marketo Engage, accommodating various marketing tasks and assets

Or the Parent Default Program that contains many child programs such as emails, events for  a specific Promotional campaign you want keep together.

Default programs are used for operational programs where you may have many executable campaigns included inside.

I use Default programs as a container for testing or investigations, to add a number of Smart Lists to look at say audiences or investigate and issue.

Another use for the Default Program is to host solus emails (third party advertising emails) for example if a publication only wants a HTML supplied but will not get sent from your own Marketo instance, I create the email asset in a shell Default program called Solus Emails.

Default programs can be used for on-demand or gated assets and if you have a few email programs that you want to keep together but not enough to build an Engagement / Nurture program.

Try and keep your Default programs tidy in folders such as investigation / testing / souls emails so easy to find.

Ensure you keep a good naming convention even for testing and investigations so you can find and return to them.

Does this help?

Hello there - My name is Cole, and I am based out in the Portland, Oregon metro area. I work in digital marketing for a construction and agriculture positioning company called Topcon Positioning Systems (think GPS/GNSS, lasers, construction/ag machine control, etc.).  We work with Marketo for our day-to-day sytems, marketing, etc. and I have about 8-months of experience -- primarily with building campaigns, light data verification/cleaning, trigger and batch campaigns, etc.

I am most excited to learn from my peers on how to evolve my use of Marketo and ultimately achieve a passing score for the certification.

Hi all,

Thanks for the introductions, interactions with each other and your initial questions, keep them coming.

How has the first module Building and Managing Programs in the exam prep gone for you?

Any specific questions on this topic? This is the building blocks of what you do day to day in Marketo and accounts for 39% of exam questions. Most of you are already creating programs for various channels, this is more about learning the Marketo terminology.

Here is a quick quiz to check your knowledge, any answers you get incorrect go back through the documents and read the question again. If you get stuck or don't understand the reasoning or question just ask.

Quiz Module 1 Programs:  31 May 2024

Try and read the module in the exam prep and completing the quiz by Sunday and. I will post module 2 Building Assets on
Monday.

Thanks, @zoe_forman. One question that came up from the exam prep this week (and ironically in real life at work  😀) was 'which types of email programs can leverage AB testing?' From my own digging around, I can't find a way to AB test in things like DRIP campaigns, Nurtures, etc. Only with one-off/one-time sends is what I could actually AB test (the purple mailbox icon programs).

We're an Adobe enterprise account, so we are trying to squeeze as much juice out of our Marketo usage as we can, particularly around testing for our audience.

Hi @canneberg

The email A/b testing is done in the email program (purple), you can't add the Email send program to the Engagement program's stream as content.

A/B Testing can be done based on Subject Line, Whole emails, from address and date time of email programs (purple)

For your nurture are you using Marketo's Engagement program or building manual nurture?

You can A/B test on the individual email (purple) if building manually, but not in the nurture program

Before adding emails into a drip or nurture program it is best to do your a/b testing first as a blast email with a test sample.

Does that clarify for you?

Thanks, Zoe

We have reported it to Adobe on Friday evening.

So Module 2 due on Monday to focus on will be delayed until we can get back into the exam prep documents.

Yes I saw your quiz submissions - that's what they are for, learning to read the questions.

You probably know the answers but the multiple choice gives you two possible answers, one maybe possible and a wild one!

Just read the question and pause - often your first thoughts or answer are teh correct one, but you doubt yourself.

Hi all - moving into Module 2 this week, BUILDING ASSETS

Some of you may have had issues logging into the exam prep guide so try this link: https://app.rockinfo.com/courses/247

This is one of the smaller sections, accounting for 19% of exam questions, and I know you are already creating assets, so this should be a refresher of best practices for you all and provide some good housekeeping tips - use of folders, naming conventions, operational emails and exploring Design Studio - image editing and uploading.

This section of the exam will test your ability to understand the following aspects of Building Assets:

  • Manipulating files in Design Studio (uploading/replacing images and files).
  • Create/Modify a form using the Form Editor.
  • Create/Edit an email using the Email Editor.
  • Create/Edit a landing page using the Landing Page Editor.
  • Create/Edit a Snippet in the Snippet Editor.
  • Distinguish the difference between draft and approved assets.
  • Distinguish the difference between local and global assets.

If you don't use a type of asset such as Marketo Landing pages as you use your own company domains to host Marketo forms, then read the sections and get familiar with the terminology. The principles are the same.

As last week, if you have any questions, just ask and share.

Thanks, Zoe
