Hello Aspirants - Happy Friday!
I hope you guys must have already started learning and preparing as per the study guide and the exam description shared in the thread.
For Week 1: your target should be to go through the Section 1 of the Exam Prep guide.

I'd recommend you to start with the study guide and go through the Product docs mentioned. I have always referred the Marketo Product Docs and the community discussions for my certified Expert as well as Master Architect exam; and have always found them to be fruitful. Assuming all of you already have some good background and experience working with Marketo, I would suggest you to not just read but try and implement every concept and topic mentioned from scratch. Think of the use case which can be built around that topic or how has that feature helped you in the past. Personally something which helped me score good in my Marketo Certified Expert exam was playing around and figuring out each and every potential edge case. Most of the MCE exam questions are situation based, there will be very few direct questions. So try to learn by doing. That's all for the pep-talk for the week.

Keep learning and keep asking questions here in the thread. I'll be sharing the Week 1/Section 1 quiz on Monday.

Feel free to drop your queries over the next few days. I'll be closely monitoring this thread and try my best to help resolve them.

Hi @suanntan @mmoseley @ncnishant14 @birbalnegi

As we have entered Week 2 of the Mentorship Program, Let's start with the Section 2 of your Exam Prep Guide.

Section 2: Marketing Activities/Campaign Management

  • Demonstrate an understanding of Smart Campaigns, logic, constraints, and flow steps
  • Interpret the relationship between programs, channels, tags, and period cost
  • Demonstrate/apply the correct configuration to Engagement Programs
  • Give examples of usage for different types of tokens
  • Summarize the utility of Webhooks in Marketo and how they are used
  • Identify and apply the appropriate use of the PMCF
  • Explain the benefits of Global Assets and how to use them
  • Demonstrate the capabilities of forms
  • Perform and analyze an A/B test strategy
  • Identify where a program or asset has been referenced with ‘Used By’
  • Troubleshoot communication limits
  • Use Webinar provider information in an event program

I find this section of the exam to be the most crucial yet the easiest one as it tests your hands-on knowledge and experience of performing day to day activities in Marketo. Expect questions where you have been given a situation and you need to find the best option to accomplish it(similar to Q1 of Week 1 quiz) and troubleshooting questions where you are required to find out the root cause of the given issue. Make sure to try and implement stuff related to each topics mentioned above.

Here is a resource which I thought would be helpful for everyone: https://nation.marketo.com/t5/marketo-whisperer-blogs/marketo-new-user-self-guided-learning-path/bc-p/339597#M1173

Feel free to drop your queries in the thread. I'll be closely monitoring this thread and try my best to help resolve them.

Make sure to like this post as a sign of acknowledgement.

Hi @nehansh-2 , thank you for sharing this week's module.

When we are determining Period costs, is it standard to also include internal costs associated with creating the program? For instance, copywriting, legal reviews, design, etc., of employees within the company (not external vendors, purchases, etc.)

Nehansh-2
Level 3
June 10, 2024

Hi @suanntan,
This is an interesting question. It depends on preference and how the costing is calculated within an organisation.
From my understanding, i would not include internal costs as period cost is more to do with specific cost incurred for that particular program/marketing campaign. e.g. Period cost includes event expenses like: booking slot at a hotel, travelling, food etc. Your Internal costs are cost for the company but not directly cost incurred explicitly for that program. As you asked for the cost of internal employees, we generally do not count that within the period cost.
But if you have a use case and everyone in the organisation is aligned on how to split the costs and make the revenue analytics work, then why not.
Let me know if that makes sense.

Would appreciate if anyone else wants to add their views on this topic. @mmoseley @birbalnegi @ncnishant14
