Gmail to automatically display images

Gmail is going to start automatically displaying images. How will this affect email marketing?

This definitely changes things. Once gmail user downloads an image, Google iwll cache it and will not require the next open to download the image. 

So, I think that the initial download will still happen, therefore that first open, but not subsequent opens. 

Anyone else have insight? Huge impact here..

I really think Marketo should chime in here and provide some insight/information, instead of leaving it up to us, their customers, to resolve this major issue. I don't see anything in Help Articles or Resources. I understand it's relatively new issue, but I'd like to see something that states they are aware of it, or are working on a possible solution, or something. Amything.
