GDPR: Are you treating EU users differently, or implementing across the board?

I thought I'd ask some basic questions as I set this up for my company. I don't have help for complicated options, so I'm thinking about implementing the new consent checkboxes and procedures for everyone (i.e. Americas, Asia-Pacific, etc., in addition to EU) on our web forms.

I think this makes the most sense for me so that the forms and campaigns are not endlessly complicated, but I was wondering how others are dealing with this. Of course I don't want to do something that will be suicidal for lead generation.

Well, this is apparently making sense to Mark Zuckerberg, as he said in front of the US Congress...

Haha -- no one else seems to want to take on the issue. He was made to stand alone!
