Example on using real time personalization for emails

I am trying to use real time personalization in  my emails. Based on whether my lead has already downloaded any content I want to show another new offer that comes later in the buyer's journey. I would like to get some examples on how I can implement this.

There is another thread on this that explains how to use custom fields to stamp a lead with Most Recent Content and then relate the type to other content.

Another way to deal with that is to bring in related content and trigger nurturing programs based on the first download. I'm sorry I can't map this out fully right now. But do a search for this and I am sure you'll find more detail.
