I think it depends a lot about industry and target audience. I think for B2B, jury is still out.
To be honest, it's a constantly shifting landscape: people find out weekends are better to send, more people send on weekends. Inboxes are now flooded on weekends. Tuesday mornings are now the low tide. More people send on Tuesday mornings, etc.

I tested this for our publication broadcasts (on 20th of the month, sometimes it lands on Saturday or Sunday) as well as on Fridays (podcast/video) and we're B2B. I saw less unsubscribes when I sent that type of broadcasts on Fridays and on the weekends. CTR is just slightly better, not a huge difference.
