“We’re seeing duplicate GTM Data Layer updates for a single Marketo form fill,” read the trouble ticket. “Sometimes even 3 or 4 updates.”   My mind went to adding multiple onSuccess listeners. Each render meant another gtmAfterSubmit() pushed onto the onSuccess stack. Once the form submitted successfully, they all ran.   The fix is to use whenReady. Hi community, We have a business issue with the Unsubscribed sync fields between Marketo and Salesforce. Since Marketo's unsubscribed field is synced/mapped to HasOptedOutOfEmail in Salesforce. If a prospect or customer unsubscribes from our marketing emails, the field will be set to TRUE on both platforms. This is stopping our Sales email cadences in Salesforce, so our sales reps have to manually force these sends one by one. Have any of you with a Marketo<>SalesForce integration and using SF sequences found a workaround for this? 

I'm trying to configure a way for contacts to update their email address when visiting a "manage preferences" form. When a known contact visits the form, their information will pre-fill. However, if the contact were to update their email address, a new record is created versus updating their existing record.  Perhaps I am completely overcomplicating this - Please let me know. I've added a section of rich text that says "Incorrect email address? Update it now." When it's clicked, the hidden field (self-service email address) would appear so the user can add a new email address. I would have an automation that would then change the data value of the primary email address field once the form is submitted.  I can't seem to find a solution to this, which is making me think I'm approaching this the wrong way. Any advice is appreciated, thank you!

Hello, I am trying to increase the number of clients who are opted in to receive email communications from us (it is very low right now). I was wondering what people have done using Marketo to increase their opt ins. I'm wondering if there is a way to only prompt people who are not currently opted in to receiving our emails because I don't want to risk those who are opted in from opting out. One idea I had was to have a radial button appear on our form if the person is currently opted out prompting them to opt in so they don't miss product release updates.  Any ideas, strategies that have worked for you, or success stories you would be willing to share would be appreciated. Friday Question # 3 (and I promise I'm done, I think 😋).   There have been rumblings of our CMO wanting to "get rid of Leads" and use Contact records for everything (something about wanting everything as the same entity for better lifecycle management/understanding/reporting - I'm not entirely sure of the rationale as it's not been described clearly).   I assumed that Marketo cannot create Contacts because of the necessity to connect it to an Account upon creation (and because I've always been under the impression that Leads are generally marketing-owned so MAPs follow that assumption) - however, I was wrong!   I though that one can sync a record from Marketo to MS Dynamics and choose to do so as a Lead or Contact only for people that already exist in the Marketo database and if Microsoft Type = Empty. I'm not sure why I never thought to revisit our Sync to Dynamics smart campaign, because it syncs them as a Lead and assigns them to our generic Marketin

Happy Friday, Community!   It's been a while since I've asked a Friday question and today I have a few (will separate by post).    I never realized that my instance could use/had access to RCM and Success Path Analyzer (I checked it out thanks to the awesome Marketo & Mochas: 5 Marketo Features to Know in 2025 webinar), so I set up a revenue model this week and approved it for use with the analytics report.   Yesterday, I adjusted the reporting time frame in the Success Path Analyzer to "This Year" (I think it defaulted to All Time) and it's been "loading" ever since, whether I hit "refresh analyzer" from the setup tab or simply wait on the report page itself. With that in mind, I have two questions:   Is it normal for the analyzer to take so long to load? This is the first time using it so I thought it might take longer to run the first time, but this seems a little excessive given that I'm only running it for this year I have trigger campaigns

I have a Salesforce Custom object that holds data that I need to use in my segments. It doesn't appear that the "Has Object" filter is available for use in segments.  As a work around, I'm planning on setting up individual smart lists for the records that have each data value that I need, and then creating custom fields that will be updated based on who is in each of the smart list. Since there is also no "Was Changed" trigger for Salesforce Custom Objects, these will need to be run everynight instead of real-time.Once the data is in the custom field, then I can use that in the segments.  This seems like a really long walk to get to something that should be simple, so I just wanted to see if anyone had found a better way to do this. 

We have used emojis in the body of emails before, but today I am trying to add them and it is deleting them upon saving and sending. I am putting the code into the email like this: 🚗 and it shows in the preview, then when I send or save it disappears.   Also if I add it to the beginning of a string of text, Marketo deletes the block. Is this a bug?

Hello, I am trying to use the "Forward to a friend" function on an email.This email is using segmentation to update the translation depending on the country of the receiver.So to sum up I got one email and 20 versions managed by segmentation. When I am using the "F2F" function, the box open is in English (it could be good to customize it in different language) and the email that will be sent to the "friend" will be the default version of my email. Question 1: Is there a way that the F2F is able to send the version of the email in the language of the person who want to transfer it?If the guy received it in German, the F2F version should be sent in German.Question 2: How can we translate also the titles of the F2F popup? I found the blog from Sandford Whiteman with a customization solution. But I would need to make it dynamic.Thanks for your help. 

Question if I use Import List to update existing customers it seems that I cannot use the Marketo ID to update fields of the customers.I can only use the email address to update unique customers. However certain customers are imported without an email address so how can I use the Marketo ID to update the customer fields?

I am trying to figure out if there's an easy way to get inbox placement tool set up for every send in Marketo without having to make a seed list every time. What is the best way to use this tool?

Hello, We want to pre-fill boolean fields in a form and display them as radio buttons on a landing page. However, despite enabling "Form Pre-Fill" at the admin: landing page level and setting the specific field to "Pre-Fill: Enabled" in the form, the radio buttons are not being pre-checked with the stored values.Below is our test scenario: A boolean field (e.g., Subscribe_Newsletter) is set up as radio buttons. The radio button options are: Option 1: Display Value: "Agree", Stored Value: "true" Option 2: Display Value: "Disagree", Stored Value: "false" If the value of Subscribe_Newsletter is already stored as true in the Marketo database, we expect the "Agree" radio button to be pre-checked when the form loads. Is there a way to achieve this? We also tried adding a script to handle this, but it still doesn't work. We have a set of 3 Marketo webhooks which have been working fine since September 2024.The webhooks connect to a data service we screen some marketo records against.That data service has now required the installation of an SSL cert (provided by the service) on the server executing the webhooks.Marketo does not install certs on behalf of clients.As a result, we are currently stuck and unable to run the data screenings.Does anyone have a similar situation they have solved for?Any creative solutions, maybe?Possibly adding an integration layer/middleman server to handle the call to the data service? Just spit-balling at this point.Any help is greatly appreciated as we have limited resources and are at a standstill.

When we heard a client’s Marketo forms weren’t showing for users of AdBlock Plus, our first thought was they were embedding forms using the old marketo.com domain, which is blocked by privacy plugins.   But no, that wasn’t it: the forms were on Marketo LPs, not embeds, and they were using a proper LP domain. (Also, for the record, AdBlock Plus doesn’t care about marketo.com. Only Firefox Tracking Protection and equivalent plugins care about that.)   So what’s the deal? Hi there,I'm Jiwon I'm wondering how to prevent already deleted leads from being re-created with Salesforce sync, as it is with the title.According to the privacy policy, marketo leads are deleted when customer reaches the destruction date. At this time, we do not delete sync leads within Salesforce.Once again, if there is a lead in Salesforce that is synced with a lead that has been deleted from Marketo, the lead remains in Salesforce. The problem is that if the lead records remaining in Salesforce are modified, the lead will be created in Marketo again.Deleted marketo reads are filled with [destruction date] and [destruction reason] fields.I want to prevent these two fields filled marketo leads from being generated again with Salesforce sync. I'd really appreciate it if you could tell me how. Thanks,Jiwon
