Automating tasks using command line

I am looking for a way to automate commonly performed tasks in AEM. This involves tasks such as copying files from one folder to another. Is there any way to run these (example copying files/folders) from command prompt. Any help would be appreciated.

@anish2 : if this about copying nodes/folders programmatically - this would be a general AEM query and is not specific to AEM Guides / XML Documentation.
