Adobe Experience Manager Forms

In the "Invoice" template that comes with ES the "Amount" fields are blank unless there is a value in "Quantity" or "Unit Price". The only calculation is "Quantity * UnitPrice". How are the zero values hidden? I've looked at every field possible for some kind of hint as to what suppresses the zero values and I cannot find anything. My form that I am working on shows all zeros in the amount column, sure I could use the template but then I wouldn't learn anything. Thanks in advance

Our form has a table where the user checks a box to include a product in a table by making the table row visible (otherwise the row is hidden). However, if none of the boxes are checked, I'd like to hide the table so that the header and footer rows aren't visible as well. Is there a way to determine if there are any body rows in a table, since that would tell me whether any product was selected? Does instanceManager only count body rows? Thanks in advance!

Hi, I've got a dynamic table where rows can be added by the user, in each row there's a checkbox cell. At the end of the table there's a "fixed" row where I have to count the number of the checked dynamic rows. How can I do that? Thanks for your help.Pascal.

The LiveCycle on-line help is pretty cryptic on this one . . . .I have an existing table in a form in which the designer (me) left off a footer row by mistake. In lieu of deleting the table and rebuilding it using the Table Assistant, is there a way to add a footer row to the existing table? The on-line help seems to indicate that it's possible, but offers little in the way of instruction on how to do it.Thanks in advance!Bill

Hi,I'm facing an error while trying to generate a PDF through CreatePDF service (GeneratePDFService). It is converting .tif .jpg successfully into PDF but not converting text documents like .txt .doc etcFollowing is the error log:ALC-PDG-001-000-Conversion failed because of an exception. An unexpected exception while resolving a new connection to an Adobe Service.: ALC-PDG-1000-000: com.adobe.livecycle.generatepdf.client.ConversionException: ALC-PDG-001-000-Conversion failed because of an exception. An unexpected exception while resolving a new connection to an Adobe Service.Caused by: java.lang.reflect.UndeclaredThrowableException: An unexpected exception while resolving a new connection to an Adobe Service. at com.adobe.util.ConnectionFactoryReflectionWrapper.getConnection(Utilities.java:961) at com.adobe.pdfg.callbacks.NativeToPDFTransactionCallback.convertToPdf(NativeToPDFTransactionCallback.java:185) at com.adobe.pdfg.callbacks.NativeToPDFTransactionCallback.doInTransaction(NativeTo

HelloI have a table where the number of body rows is determined by the amount of data bound to the table. Additionally, I have a workflow that inserts a new body row node directly into the form's XML.Unfortunately, my table within the form will only display one row even though I have verified that there are multiple rows worth of data in the XML as a result of my workflow.Any ideas on how to get all the data to show? Thanks in advance

All,I created a form for online fill in, but I do not want anyone to have the ability to save their data on the original form; they can "Save As" and rename it anything else with their data, but I want to keep the original form blank...not sure if this is so simple I am tripping all over it, but I can't find this simple procedure anywhere.....any help?thanksEd

On a form I'm creating, I'd like to add a feature that allows a window/pop-up/tooltip to display when the mouse hovers over that particular piece of text. The text box I've created...in the accessibility tab....I've typed in the custom reader text I was hoping to have displayed. Obviously, not working. What setting or piece am I missing that I'm doing incorrectly?

I have a form with questions and radio buttons for Yes, No and N/A. It turns out that in the creation of the form, I grouped lines of the radio buttons together (gathered, copied and pasted them). Now each line is not exclusive because they are part of a radio button list. How can I ungroup the rows and hopefully make each line exclusive? I already selected the RadioButtonList and right-clicked - no option for what I want to do appeared. Also when selected I went to the Layout menu, but "Ungroup" was grayed out. Thanks, Leah

I am attempting to use javascript to hide/show items when I button is pressed. If the items are set to visible in the design view the script to hide/show works fine, but if I set the presence property to invisible or hidden from design view, the script will not override that and make the items visible. Has anyone come across this before? Below is a copy of the script I've been using. Button1.presence = "invisible"; Button2.presence = "visible"; TextField1.presence = "invisible";

Hi,Is it possible to convert the .pdf file to .xfdf through Adobe liveCycle Es. Kindly help me.Thanks And Regards,Prabudass

Can anyone explain and offer a solution to my table header continuation problem? My table is set to allow additional rows with add/delete buttons. In the Accessibility tab, its role is marked as "header row". In Object>Pagination tab, both "Include header in initial & subsequent pages" are checked. I have it listed as following previous and continuing following parent. Binding is set to normal. This table is NOT wrapped in any subforms. When I test/preview my PDF, using the add buttons, it breaks over to a second page as it should, with the header row showing at the top. However, when you continue to add more rows, if the form carries over to 3 or more pages, the header row no longer shows at the top of my table/page. What seems to be the issue??

OK..I am a noobie to the Designer process --- this is my first time putting a document together.I have a question:I have created a form in which I have a drop down list. However, there is only so much text that is "visible" in the form (there is no room to expand)As it will not wrpa around to a second line, is there a way to have the drop down do multi-lines (for just one selection)?i.e. to look like this in the form:BCS 3243CORROSIVE, UN1824, PGII, 8, MATERIAL SAFETY DATA SHEET ATTACHEDDoes this make sense?ThanksChris

I try to use a validate event to prevent an empty string. So I used this little Formcalc script: (I prefer Javascript as well. Yet I felt it should be possible with Formcalc as well)<pre>if ($ == "") then 0;else 1;endif</pre>This validate event never returns 0 :-(Does anyone have an explanation for this behavior of Formcalc?By the way: The following line does the trick in Formcalc:<pre>if ($.isNull )</pre>

Hi, Im trying to create a field that users can only enter number. If they enter text, an error message should pop up. I can't seem to get it to work although i got the error message to show when users enter text. However, im not sure what i need to put in the "validation pattern" box. Should it be 9 or 99999 or 999999999. None of those worked, as i have tried. If someone has any idea. Please help. Thanks.

Hello,I have been involved in developing forms for the past 6 months. Recently, for the past 3 weeks, we have encountered unusual errors in the forms. (1) A couple of the forms, upon opening, there's a error message box popped up: "Xml parsing error: duplicate attribute (error code 8), line xxxxx, column xx of file". Tried to diagnose this problem, however, couldn't really come up with a conclusive diagnostic.(2) There is a requirement that user can still use Adobe Reader 7.0.0 to view and print the forms. This requirement used to be satisfied, but now, there's a popup error message box saying "Malformed SOM expression: name[*]". Similar to the first problem, there wasn't any information in regards to this error message.Things that we have done that might have caused this error:(1) We have changed the schema that was used to build the form, to include "nillable" property in some elements in the schema. The modified schema is still valid and well-formed.We have been scratching our heads

I have seen similar posts but have found no answer. I would like to limit text entered into a field by the actual parameters of the drawn text box. An option which was simple in Acrobat Professional (uncheck scroll long text). While I appreciate any help in this matter, I must warn you that I know nothing about scripting. If the answer lies in adding script to the form field properties, I would need step by step instruction. Thanks in advance.

Although a seemingly simple task, this question has occupied way too much of my time the last week and I am asking the following out of sheer desperation and frustration.I have a pdf form created with Designer 7.0. I have a separate XML data file to populate the form with. I can test using the preview in Designer and everything looks great. Now, all I want to do is deploy this pdf to a standard web server (IIS, Windows) such that any visitor to the site (using Reader) is able to open it/view it/print it, with the data there. That's it.This was easily accomplished using Acrobat 6 by creating an ASP page that output an FDF file which referenced the PDF. Not so with the latest version.I have downloaded three separate several hundred page documents that do not explain how to accomplish this task simply. So to summarize:1. Does this task *require* a separate piece of software (Document Server) that was not required before?2. If Document Server is not required, what are the steps to publish

Hey guys. Here's my problem; The person types in their answers into the form that I've created through Adobe Designer. When I view online or print out the form, the entire answer for any text field is not seen. Their answer will scroll towards the right endlessly without wrapping down to the next line. In essence, the wordwrap is not on. Is there a way to ensure that wordwrap is on and that the text skips down to the next lines so that I can see and print it out correctly?thanks, dean

Hello!I was wondering if there is a function to find a field by name in a PDF.I already saw a lot of examples using Resolvenode, however, these examples always used the path to the node (page.subform.etc). Because I don´t know where the field will be or even if the fields really exists, I would like to search for it easily. The only solution I had found was to interact through all the nodes on each page, but this seems not very efficient.Thank you

Hi,I'm trying to use FormCalc to automatically look for a string and replace it in a text field. I'm trying to do this by setting the script of the "Change" event in the text field to this:$=Replace($, "address__", "123 Fake Street\u000aAnycity, NT 12345")So thus, when a user types "address__" into the text field, it replaces the string "address__" with the actual address. I would create one line of code for each different address that I wanted to use. What am I doing wrong, syntax-wise? I don't get any script errors, it just doesn't do anything.I know very little about using FormCalc - are there any good tutorials out there on the internet? Most LiveCycle Designer documentation seems to be geared towards JavaScript users, but FormCalc seems fine for my needs.Thanks.

I've been reading all of the messages relating to subforms and dynamic forms and have used many of the suggestions, but haven't found anything that addresses the problem I am having. I'm using Designer 7.0. I've saved my form as a dynamic form, I've set my text fields for multiple lines and expand to fit. My problem is that as soon as I set the parent subform to Flow Content, everything moves to the left margin. I've tried grouping items together within a subform in hopes that the items will maintain their position on the page, but everything always moves to the left margin. I'm creating a legal form that needs to have text and a text field centered at the top of the page. Below that to the left is a text field that needs to be able to expand with two text fields to the right of it. Below that are additional text fields that need to expand as needed. Am "stacking" my subforms incorrectly and setting the wrong subform to Flow Content? Or, can you now lock a field to a specific position?

I have a requirement to do the following in a PDF form designed in LiveCycle 7: When a user clicks on Enter key that have to be treated as Tab key and move the curser to the next Text field available. Can any one help me how to achieve with an example?

Hi,I have a form which requires validation prior to it's final submission (fields must be populated, etc). However, in order to pre-populate some of these fields, we also need to be able to submit the form to an external CRM to retrieve the FDF data for the form to be incorporated. When doing this, the form is validated, and since there is no data yet, the submission fails and pre-population fails. Is there any way to temporarily disable the validation of the form for the pre-population-submission, and then turn it back on following that? The property xfa.host.validationsEnabled seems like a good candidate, but setting it to false doesn't seem to have any impact.Cheers,Martin
