Today we tried to change the admin password on the AUTHOR instance and when trying to login we got this errors below. Please advice.

Can you access /system/console?

Are there any unresolved bundles/bundles that are not active? Please access the URL after clearing browser cookies.

No cannot access system console, when I try to access system console it redirects back to the same URL.

I tried this https://Serevrname/system/console

Can you share the steps you performed to update the password and AEM version along with aemfd package that is deployed on the server?

Here is the process I followed to change the default admin password:

1. Log in to AEM author

2. Tools --> Security -->Users - Selected Admin user and clicked on Change Password

We are using AEM version 6.5 with Service Pack 1

I tried this on my local and it seems to be working fine. The steps you tried are the recommended one, difficult to say what has gone based on the error stack. What's the JDK being used?

We are using JDK 11.0.4.

AEM server is starting fine but unable to login, not even providing the login prompt. There should be a way to reset the admin password back to default right?

Can you try following the steps :

1.Stop you AEM instance

2.Go to ${your-aem-install-folder}/crx-quickstart/repository/index. Cut all the indexes available under index folder and paste it somewhere in your system.

So the index folder should be empty

3. Re-start your AEM and check now

We faced this kind of HTTP 500 issue not for login, but in other cases as well, so then we used to removed the indexex and restart the instance. Hope it works once you perform these steps
