AEM forms Workspace - Usage not clear

As per AEM forms documentation (https://helpx.adobe.com/aem-forms/6-2/html-workspace-overview.html), AEM forms workspace is used to manage processes and tasks that forms can be associated with. However it's not fully clear what these processes are. Are these the ones created using Livecycle workbench? If so, would forms workspace also require LC connector to be able to access process / task data?

If that's the case, Can these processes be hosted in AEM too? Or it can only be done in Livecycle and requires a Livecycle server to be running every time?

Hi Akshay,

Yes, you can upload the processes created using LiveCycle Workbench ES4 and earlier version to AEM Forms on JEE only. To move the processes:

  1. Prepare Workbench processes (.lca) for export.
  2. Import applications and archives to the target server.

WorkSpace is the user interface for people oriented forms processes.  It requires an AEM Forms JEE installation or a LiveCycle installation to be available.

Thanks. But that was the question originally. Are these people oriented forms processes the ones created using workbench in LC?

Yes, these processes are the people-oriented forms processes created using Workbench.

Thank you for your response.

Can we upload these processes created using LiveCycle Workbench ES4 and earlier version to AEM forms JEE / OSGI directly? If yes, then how?

In other words, Will these processes work as is with AEM forms JEE / OSGI as the server rather than LiveCycle?

We want to upload LC processes to AEM forms. I have following questions.

1. Is all the the features of LC processes are present in AEM forms?

2. Which is better AEM forms JEE / OSGI (Difference between them will be helpful)?

3. Process steps to be followed for the migration of LC to AEM forms.

Hi Aashay,

  1. AEM Forms has all the features available in LiveCycle and much more. However, the process management and rights management features are limited to AEM Forms on JEE.
  2. For information about choosing a suitable flavour, kindly get in touch with your Adobe account representative or use the following link:

  3. AEM Forms provides comprehensive upgrade documentation. To get started with upgrade, see the following article:
