AEM Forms Designer Preview not working

Hi Comunity,

since today, maybe yesterday, preview tab in AEM Forms Designer is not working anymore.

I’ve installed Designer v6.5.24 and Acrobat DC continuous.
Viewing Task Manager shows, that Adobe Acrobat Process gets started, but window stays grey.

After switching back to design mode, Adobe Acrobat Process remains started, also Adobe AcrobatCEF remains.

Was this error behaviour seen before? Any ideas?

    Hi @radzmar, @Stephan_Reiners,

We have identified the problem and the issue seems to be related to Acrobat plugin which is not able to initiate properly after the latest MS security patch. After further discussion we found that this is not the problem with Designer, but it a  issue with the patch released by Microsoft which is causing multiple applications to ail to launch including Outlook and others.

The suggestion from Microsoft is to uninstall Windows 11 KB5074109 to fix all the issues and wait for the next stable patch release.

Seems to be a general problem. Facing the problem on multiple computers. Using Designer 6.5.22.20241128.1.173 and Acrobat Pro 25.001.20997. The preview window is either blank or the side by side error 507:507 is shown.

    Hi Community,

I have found the cause of this unspeakable problem, at least in my case!
The Microsoft update “2026-01 Security Update (KB5074109) (26100.7623)” that I received on January 15, 2026, was the only major change to my system before the problem occurred. Since all attempts (uninstalling and reinstalling all Adobe products) failed to fix the error, I uninstalled this update as a test—and voilà—everything worked as before.
I hope someone from Adobe is reading this—and that a solution will be found, because the update surely had a purpose ;-)

    Hi @Stephan_Reiners,

We are already aware of the issue with AEM Forms Designer where the PDF preview functionality stops working after the installation of the Windows security update KB5074109 (OS build 26100.7623). This is related to the Windows update which is not allowing the Acrobat plugin to work properly.

We are also able to reproduce the same behavior in our machines as well. Notably, the issue does not occur on the previous Windows patch (KB5066835), where the PDF preview works as expected.

We are troubleshooting this issue internally and, in the meantime, if you want the PDF preview to work, kindly revert to the previous patch and hold until the resolutions steps are available.

    Thanks
