Hello,

Dynamic Media is removing the C2PA Watermark from Images. As a results, we cannot verify DM renditions on Content Credentials

How can we possibly retain them?

Hi @aanchal-sikka

The Dynamic Media rendition pipeline is probably the immediate technical problem, but even if that's fixed, the provenance chain is only as strong as the weakest platform the image touches downstream. For example, some social content platforms have been observed in other forums for stripping metadata out of images on upload, which doesn’t help you with indemnification. But, good news, I think it looks like C2PA 2.1 is catching up to this with a digital watermark initiative.

See the accordion, "What happens if C2PA metadata is stripped from the media it represents?" on this page: https://c2pa.org/faqs/ It talks about durable watermarks as an alternate path for situations like yours.

I’d also look at Dynamic Media hosting types, because there’s DM with OpenAPI now and maybe that would help with the first step in the technical solution, and then combined with things like durable watermarks, you may get more coverage for the use case, even if it’s not perfect (yet).
