Modify tags for multiple files

My organization is currently cleaning up our site. We have several sub entities each with probably hundreds of PDF files that exist in CQ5 that need to be tagged. I'm part of one of those sub entities. We are doing this one file at a time. Are there any more efficient ways that this can be done? 

I was hoping that they could just send me a spreadsheet with my files and I could just update that to add names, entity, descriptions, and tags for the files that could be used to update the database, but I'm not in IT so maybe that's not possible?
