Is it possible for users (not Admin level) to apply a specific metadata profile to a folder they have uploaded?

Hi all, I am relatively new to AEM. I apologize in advance for the long message. I am an admin/owner for our AEM account at my job. My question pertains to my users who aren’t admins themselves, specifically our design team. They are currently uploading folders from their computers to a specific folder in AEM and we need for them to be able to add an existing metadata profile to that folder they uploaded so they can then enter the appropriate metadata info. Are there ways for users to do this, or do they need to be admins?

I have created a custom folder metadata profile in Tools > Folder Metadata Schemas. Through Folder Metadata Schema Forms I am able to select this custom profile I created and then apply it to any folder in our AEM space. When I ran some testing with one of my users, they were able to access Folder Metadata Schema Forms through Tools, however they didn’t have the ability to apply the schema to a folder (presumably because they aren’t admin level). Is there a way for someone at the user level to apply a metadata schema to a folder (not an individual asset) they uploaded? The only alternative I can think of is to have them upload their folders, and then it would be up to me as an admin to apply the custom folder metadata profile so they can add metadata info to the folder they just uploaded. This approach requires a lot of work on my end, so I am seeking alternatives. Thanks!

@SteveF-VWR Yes. You can always create a simple admin-configured workflow that applies the custom folder metadata profile automatically when users upload folders. In this way, you can avoid manual intervention.

Hello @SteveF-VWR

Based on Adobe's documentation, non-admin users can fill in folder metadata once a folder metadata schema has already been applied to the folder. However, applying or changing the schema on an existing folder is typically an admin-level task done from Tools > Assets > Folder Metadata Schemas.

The best OOTB alternative is for users to create the folder directly in AEM and select the Folder Metadata Schema during folder creation. After that, they can open Folder Properties > Folder Metadata and complete the metadata themselves.
