How to remove assets from Content Hub after deleted from AEM Assets

Hello, I have a user who has deleted assets in AEM before changing the status from ‘Approved’ to ‘Rejected’. This has resulted in the assets still appearing on Content Hub, with no way to remove them.

Is there a way I can remove these assets from Content Hub?

Thank you,

Lana

Hi @LanaLa, I would see if you can restore those files in AEM. After restoring them, try to set them to “Rejected”, and then confirm they are not appearing in ContentHub. You could delete them after.

Hi @LanaLa

Yes, but not self‑service in your current state.

Because the assets were approved for Content Hub and then deleted from AEM without first changing their Status, they are now orphan entries in Content Hub. Those cannot be removed from the Content Hub UI; they must be purged by Adobe on the backend. This is a known behavior and we have an established clean‑up path for it.

@LanaLa

The assets cannot be removed directly in Content Hub now because they were deleted from AEM before their status was changed from Approved to Rejected.

In this situation, Content Hub can retain an orphaned entry. We'll raise an internal request with the Content Hub engineering team to purge those items from the backend.

For future deletions, the recommended process is to first change the asset status to Rejected (or otherwise remove approval), then delete the asset from AEM.
