DAM Update Asset Workflow - DXML processes

Hi all,

I am running AEM 6.5.17 and I want to understand the role of the DXML processes, especially the DXML Post Process Initiator. 

I found older documentation that says that this DXML Post Process Initiator process is required when transitioning from AEM 3 to 4 but I cannot see it in the newer AEM 6.5 versions inside the DAM Update Asset Workflow.

Is it still needed and why?
