Can AEM unpack InDesign files, upload new images and create links from those new images

If we have new InDesign files being uploaded to the DAM does the DAM do any relationship association with the linked assets automatically or does that have to be done manually? Example: I work on a file for a brochure. I link to assets in the DAM through the InDesign plugin but there are 2 more images I purchase form Getty as well for the brochure. I package that file and upload the package to the DAM. When I upload it the DAM knows 2 of those assets already exist in the DAM because I linked to them from the file through the integration but does the DAM have the ability to add the 2 new Getty images to the DAM and create the relationship to the files in InDesign so when it is checked out next it is not trying to link from the desktop anymore? Or when I check out the file do I now have to relink them to the assets in the DAM?

    In my experience the AEM Assets is able to find every related asset of the InDesign file and list it in the properties under dependencies, if the other pictures are uploaded somewhere in Assets.
    But this does only show in the properties.

    AEM is by itself not able to write this link in the InDesign file. It is not able to write into InDesign files at all.

    There is extra work to do for that. With your file that has 2 missing pictures, you can relink them with the AEM Asset Link manually. If you had 600 pictures missing, for example you got the InDesign file from an external agency, that is not connected to your AEM, this becomes a lot of work and you can read my sobstory here:
