@nbg62  Are you trying to save metadata changes? If yes, you can utilize bulk metadata update operation, using CSV file: https://experienceleague.adobe.com/docs/experience-manager-64/assets/administer/metadata-import-export.html?lang=en

no explicit update of any kind, we just need to save every asset in order to trigger background action for each item.

It would be better to associate your background action to a workflow that you can run anytime explicity on a root folder etc easily via interface.

 

Also , have a workflow launcher (in case you have extra conditions ) like certain mimetime / on node modification/creation etc  to automate it to run your logic.
