Asset uploading HTTP API, only on Cloud Service and not for local SDK?

I am following this guide but I see

"Note: The Asset Upload HTTP API only works on Cloud Service, not for local SDK"

Am I correct in thinking for my local aem as a cloud service setup, I cannot upload images in the same way? on localhost:4502.

And if so, what would be another way I can do it? This is AEM Headless, with react front-end.

Hi,

First, the blog you are seeing is kind of outdated, AEMaaCS is constantly evolving so it is always good to keep that in mind and check the official documentation. In the following link you can find the preferred way to upload assets which is the "aem-upload" feature nowadays:  https://experienceleague.adobe.com/docs/experience-manager-cloud-service/content/assets/admin/developer-reference-material-apis.html?lang=en

Also, you can check the below thread  for more details:

Hope this helps.
