Thanks, @monalikakapoor! This is helpful, but I was referring to the two different views of AEM Assets as a whole. There is an Asset and Admin view. This video outlines them, but I was wondering which view is recommended for designers and which is recommended for admins. Also, what are the benefits of both. I actually found the answer researching myself. I've provided the links below. With the definition of both views.

 

  • Admin View: The existing Assets as a Cloud Service user interface. Use the Admin View for all advanced Digital Asset Management capabilities including integrations, workflows, content automation, publishing and more.

  • Assets View: Adobe’s lightweight asset management experience to store, manage, discover, and use digital assets. Streamlined user interface containing essential Digital Asset Management capabilities. Designed for the light-weight DAM users with a focus on upload, metadata management, search, download, and sharing.

Great question! When it comes to choosing between the two views available in AEM Assets—Card View and List View—it really boils down to what works best for your tasks and preferences. Here’s a quick rundown of each:

Card View

What It Is: Card View shows your assets as thumbnails in a grid, making it super easy to visually scan through images or videos.

Why You Might Like It:

  • Visual Browsing: If you’re dealing with lots of images or media files, this view lets you see everything at a glance without having to open each file. 
  • Quick Decisions: You can quickly hover over or click a thumbnail for a preview, which helps in making fast choices. Best suited for teams that primarily work with visual content.

Things to Consider:

  • Less Detail: You won’t see much metadata unless you click further, which might slow you down if you need detailed info.
  • Screen Space: If you have a lot of assets, it might feel a bit crowded on smaller screens.

List View

What It Is: List View lays out your assets in a table format, complete with details like file name, size, and modification date. This view is more detailed and is akin to a spreadsheet layout.

Why You Might Like It:

  • Detailed Info: Perfect if you need to manage assets based on metadata. Easier to sort and filter assets based on metadata attributes, which can streamline asset management tasks.
  • More on Screen: You can see more files at once, which is handy if you’re organizing or managing lots of assets.

Things to Consider:

  • Less Visual: Not as great for quickly identifying images or videos since it’s more text-heavy.
  • Overwhelming for Visuals: If you’re mainly working with pictures or videos, this view might feel a bit too detailed.

So, Which One?

It really depends on what you’re doing. If you’re picking out images or videos, Card View is probably your best bet. But if you’re organizing or managing files, List View might be more efficient.

Pro Tip: Why not use both? Start with Card View to pick out your visuals, then switch to List View for detailed management. This way, you get the best of both worlds!
