Filtering a freeform table by custom metrics

You're spot on, calculated metrics can’t be used in segment conditions, so filtering by them isn't straightforward.

One workaround you can try is -

1. Add your custom metric to the freeform table (sounds like you’ve done this).

2. Sort the table by that custom metric in descending order.

3. Apply a manual filter:

   • Hover over the values in the custom metric column.

   • Use the small filter icon (funnel) that appears on hover.

   • Set a threshold (e.g., greater than 5%) to keep only rows above that value.

If the filter icon doesn’t appear, try copying the table to a new panel or refreshing Workspace, sometimes UI quirks make it disappear.

It’s not perfect, but this method helps avoid segment limitations and gets you a filtered view without too much friction.

You're correct — calculated metrics like your custom rate cannot be directly used in segments in Adobe Analytics. This is a common limitation and source of confusion.

But there is a workaround using Freeform Table filters that will get you exactly what you want:

Solution -

Click on the gear icon (settings) in the top-right of your Freeform Table.

Under the settings panel, look for “Row Filter”.

In the “Row Filter” section:

Select your calculated metric (e.g., My Custom Rate).

Set the condition: “is greater than” your desired threshold (e.g., 0.10 for 10%).

Click Apply.

This will hide all rows where your custom metric is not above the threshold — regardless of how other metrics like Visits are sorted.

 
Segments work with raw data dimensions and events, but calculated metrics are derived from aggregates, which can't be evaluated at the hit/visit/visitor level within a segment.
