Audiences for REAL TIME CDP, attributes vs events

hi,

while creating an audience (or segment if using the old name) when is it best to an attribute or an event?

let s say you want to create an audience based on users having visited the page Product.

would you use the attribute page Name or the event page Name?

what s the rationale of each selection?

It depends on your event schema design. Events are always defined in XDM Events with timeseries. So choose the product page view event based on the type of the event.

 

If we have additional classification of audience based on the profile persona details, such as country, usually stored as XDM individual profile attributes. In such cases, use profile attributes.

Whether you should use an attribute or an event when creating an audience (or segment) really depends on what kind of behavior you're trying to capture and how your analytics or CDP system is structured.
