Edge Network vs Streaming API

Avatar

Level 10

I soon would work on green field implementation for retail chain. We would like to collect data from offline stores in near real time. I thought to use for that Streaming API.

However I see in Data Ingestion API also Edge Network API. I thought that Edge is used only with Web and Mobile traffic.

Which one do you recommend to use? What is to consider?

Hi @Michael_Soprano  - For near real-time store data, go with the Streaming Ingestion API — it’s designed for continuous event-level data with low latency. The Data Ingestion API is better for bulk or scheduled jobs (e.g., nightly files). Edge is mainly for sub-second personalization on web/mobile, so it usually won’t apply unless you’re driving in-store offers directly at checkout.

Thanks,

Arpan
