How to Delete old versions in AEM ?

Hi,

I have to delete old versions in AEM Admin,

The maximum number of versions to be kept in the repository is 5 version.

The maximum age of any version kept in the repository is 3 months.

back up your content in a package

go to http://localhost:4505/etc/versioning/purge.html

give the path of the page

update the maximum number of version to 1

do a dry run first check the results and then purge

You need to configure version purge as directed in (1)

(1) : Version Purging

I have the remove the older version 1.33 & 1.34 ( which was highlighted in yellow) from the AEM admin. so that we can able to the see the recent version 1.35 only

Hi,

Post version Purging, i can able to revert the versions back to the old version..

i have to clear the last 6 moths version permanently from the system. if the pages have 3 versions, V1.0, V1.1, V1.2.. etc.

i have to display only recent version. version which are 6 months and above should remove from the system.

please suggest

HI,

the behavior of version purging task is performing only if you create a new version.

if there was  5 versions available in the system out of 5 .

4 versions with 30 days old.and max version is 2

and i want to remove the version which are 30 days old.

this case version purging is running only when the new version is created.

please advise how to do this purging task automatically without creating a new version ?

Hi,

For automatically version purging you can use Weekly Maintenance

http://localhost:4502/libs/granite/operations/content/maintenanceWindow.html/libs/settings/granite/operations/maintenanc…

(Operations--> Maintenance-->Weekly Maintenance Window)

you may need to add Version purging task if not added already. You can configure the max version and max age also
