My apologies, the above document is specifically referencing signals search & back-filled trait realizations. In terms of actual trait expressions, our system forces all lowercase values, therefore the qualifications are not case-sensitive.

If traits are case-sensitive, then why can't I create a trait and keep it the case it needs to be for future data coming from our data warehouse?

.. as well as rule-based traits, which you can also test using the Test Event URL Tool in the Trait Expression Builder:
