AAM | Unused Signals Report | Add Filters

Avatar

Level 2

Background

Within user permissions we allow specific user(group)s to create traits based on specific data sources. This allows us to keep data only accessible for specific OpCo's (Operational Companies).

Challenge

Within the 'Unused Signals Report' all signals of all data sources are available for all users that have access to this report.

Idea

Would it be possible to:

  • Create an additional filter within the Unused Signal Report, adding 'Data Sources' as a filter next to date range, key and value?
  • Add user permission logic to the 'Unused Signal Report'

Hey Rob_St ,

I don't believe there is a direct relationship between signals and data sources.

Signals represent the raw data: key value pairs which are free formed (e.g. gender=male). The same signal can be used in any trait rule, belonging to any data source.

Therefore:

Signals - free formed, don't belong to a specific data source.

Traits - have well established trait rules (based on signals) and belong to a data source.

Segments - have well established segment rules (based on traits) and belong to a data source.

Just by providing a Data Source, there is no way of telling which signals are part of that data source. Furthermore, the unused signals are not being used in any trait.

Actually, @Rob_St,

As it has been pointed out by my colleague, for onboarded data you need to specify the Data Source ID in the file name. It would therefore be possible to filter the signals present in these onboarded files, for a specific Data Source.

This feature is already on the roadmap as part of another major release this year. Will keep you posted.

Cheers,

Costi
