Hi Hari,

There are many differences and few similarities between Processing Rules and VISTA rules.

Both of them are used to modify data collected by analytics, however the way they work is different.

The major difference is in the order in which these rules are processed. Processing rules are carried out before VISTA rules in a serial order. So it is possible that your data is further modified after processing rules are applied. You can view the processing order here - https://marketing.adobe.com/resources/help/en_US/reference/processing_rule_order.html

Other differences are that processing rules modify data based on certain conditions and vista rules modify data based on visitor segments. Vista rules are a server side approach and can send data to multiple report suites whereas processing rules are report suite specific. Also, vista rules are created by adobe engineering services for an extra fee whereas processing rules could be created by any user in your company who has an access to it.

Hello Tanmay ,

I see in your response you said "Processing rules are carried out before VISTA rules in a serial order." . However in pictorial I can see that Processing rules are carried out after the Vista rules in serial order. Could you please clarify ?

Hi Pradeep,

Processing rules are carried out before VISTA rules only. The one you see after VISTA are 'Marketing Channel Processing Rules' which are different from 'Processing Rules'
