Does anyone know why the default "Days Since Last Visit" dimension by visits do not add up to match the total visits?
As shown in the screenshot above, the default "Days Since last Visit" visits is 949,764 out of 1,643,948 - not matching, why is that?
Whereas when custom track "Days Since Last Visit" using the plugin s.getTimSinceLastVisit() to an eVar the visits count are almost adding up to match the total visits.
I am hoping to use the default Adobe 'Days Since last visit" dimension for reporting, however if there is no good reason why the visit count numbers aren't matching, I may need to rely to the custom tracked eVar.

Hi VictorTa2,
As you probably know in freeform tables, there can be a difference between the grand total (gray "out of" number) and the table total (black number). Grand Total includes all hits or visits collected, regardless of filters or breakdowns whereas table total reflects any filters or breakdowns applied. If you're filtering out certain rows, like "None" for "Days Since Last Visit," or segmenting the data in some way, the table total will differ from the grand total. I don't see a segment in the tabel or panel.
But I noticed you have first-time visitors ("new visitor") in the eVar14. According to the Adobe documentation, first time visits are not included in their"Days since last visit" dimension: https://experienceleague.adobe.com/en/docs/analytics/components/dimensions/days-since-last- So this would probably mean that all new visits (where there was no previous visit to compare against) won't show up in this breakdown, but they are still counted in the total number of visits for your report and therefore they still show in the grand total (the grey total). You have all visits showing in the custom dimension (eVar14).
The "0 days" value in the default dimension "days since last visit" refers to visits where the user returned to the site on the same day as their previous visit. This is the first row in the default dimension. Where in your eVar, the row value is "new visitor" which I suppose is not the same. That would be my guess.
Which one to use idepends on your reporting goals. But the default dimension does provide you with information about "time passed between the current hit of the visitor and their previous visit". Hope this helps a bit

Yes, I second the statement that "New Visitors" are not included in the "days since last visit"... those "0 Days" items mean the person returned within the same day... they also might have returned 2 or 3 or 4, etc times in the same day.. they would only count once against that row.... since as a "Unique User" if I came back to the site 3 times in the same day, I am only 1 users, therefore, I would only show once under that bucket.
