Setting up my Instance and Program for Courses

Hi! So we've been using Marketo for 2 years now, but I haven't really been using it to track any social media marketing we do for a program. I'd also like to start tying more cost to program so we can see a bigger picture of how things are working. We are tied to SFDC but we have issues with Salespeople associating form submissions/opportunities to our SF campaigns. So with all that said, I'm wondering if I should be setting up my Instance and Programs differently. We do most of our marketing for our Training division. So we will send marketing tactics (email, social posts, social ads, ad words) for a course multiple times through-out the year as we are promoting different dates/sessions.

Here is what my Instance and structure looks like today (I highlighted one course we marketed twice as it had two different course dates). Obviously these are only emails, but the course I highlighted we also did social ads, or external banner ads:

Should I structure this differently so I can see how all our marketing efforts (email, social ad, external banner ads, ppc) performed for this Course over the year? If so, how would I do this?

I like your naming scheme.

This is a giant question which I dont think can be fully explored in the forum. Here's what to investigate first:

  • Program and Channel uses (there are some webinars and threads here)
  • Consider your business workflow and process charts
  • Consider your attribution needs: Channel vs. Offer
  • Look at your SFDC workflows and how to connect campaigns to contacts to Opps (lots of discussions and issues here)

Consider hiring an agency to assist. It may be a big project.

Thanks Josh. Where you going to include a link for some webinars and threads, or are they just in the forum? I haven't found them yet.
