Task Report With The Ability To Report Hours

Hi! During an admin work session many users commented that the homepage is ineffective and you’ve created custom reports for your team members. What everyone discussed is what I am looking to create but have no idea how to do it. 

Below is what I am looking to create:

  • Create a report that is custom by user
  • Lists all their assigned tasks by project. Needs to show multiple tasks for the same project
  • List the hours they are scheduled by task for a specific timeframe (one week view). 
  • Ability to report hours from this same report/view

I’ve been trying to make this work with the Task Report and Hours Report but neither fit the requirements and I cannot figure out how to customize it. 

Can anyone help?

You could do an “assignment” report. This will break down the tasks into the user's “part” if you assign multiple people to tasks

  • Create a report that is customized by user - you can use a wildcard card filter for this so it only displays the user's information that is viewing the report. 
  • Lists all their assigned tasks by project. Needs to show multiple tasks for the same project - this can be done through assignment or task reports
  • List the hours they are scheduled by task for a specific timeframe (one week view). Reports won’t break down the work by day if that’s what you are looking to do (like workload balancer) but you can use wildcard date filters to only show tasks due this week or next week, etc. 
  • Ability to report hours from this same report/view - actual hours or planned hours? Both task and assignment reports should be able to pull in this data. The assignment report will only show the users assigned hours and logged hours if you assign multiple people to tasks. The task report will show the full hours for the task as a whole.
