Question

Splitting available Hrs across portfolios

Hi, we have one user whose time needs to split over projects from two different portfolios, eg available hrs are 37 so 18.5 hrs for projects from portfolio A and  18.5 hrs for projects from portfolio B. Is there a way of facilitating this?

TIA

Hi @markTwo,

I would say you have multiple options here:

  1. Reporting (fastest and easiest)
Build a report on assignments or planned hours, grouped by Portfolio, filtered to the user. That gives the 18.5 / 18.5 evidence without needing enforcement -> enough for a resource manager who is managing specific person.
  2. Try using resource pools
Resource pool per portfolio check the documentation here →  https://experienceleague.adobe.com/en/docs/workfront/using/manage-resources/resource-planning-in-adobe-workfront/resource-pools/work-with-resource-pools once this is done you can utilize workload balancer to check if there is overallocation
  3. Utilize roles
Maybe try defining two roles and have user with primary and secondary role, make sure that the total is still 100% or 37h in your case (this should be done in schedule or at least come from user schedule if I am not wrong), then you can utilize resource planner

I am not sure what your current setup is or what did you try so far and the question was quite vague, I gave you some hints in which directions you might go, but please consider and weight out the pluses and the minuses of each.

Best regards,
