Question

Lock Manual Proof Workflows

Hi- wanted to see if anyone has any ideas on this.

We often use a manual proof workflow for an individual reviewer and then once they make their decision we convert to automated an apply a template. This does not lock the first manual stage. I don’t think this is possible system-wide. But wanted to see if anyone has any ideas or a workaround!

I know I can make stages with one individual, but am hoping to try to avoid this. I just don’t want anyone going back into the proof once comments are made from prior stages! TYIA

Hi @CassieSt

Per this documentation:

After the proof is reworked to Automated Workflow, all stages are active, public and their Lock stage option is set to Manual by default

so you're right that there's no system-wide switch for this, but the first stage can be locked, and it's a per-stage setting you set at conversion time.

I have never done this but I assume something like this would work selecting the lock stage and changing it from manual to When the next stage starts.

I hope I understood your problem, and the solution you are trying to achieve. Please let me know if I completely missed your point.

Agree, does not seem to be a system wide setting.  The easiest thing I can see is to set the

“Lock proof when all required decisions are made” box when you first create it.

Interestingly, at least in my test case, once its approved and the new workflow template is added, that first stage does not appear locked in the Workflow, but it is actually locked for that person if they try to open the proof.  Might be a case for Support there.

Is the reason you don’t want to create a stage with one person because it is variable who that person will be and what templates they will want to add?  It would be the most surefire way to set it up if you wanted to take the time to do it.

@IvanCyber64 & @HeatherRo13 thank you both!!

you are both spot on. i was hoping to not have to do this manually as it is a  new process. we have multiple reviewers depending on what the asset is and wanted to minimize the number of proof workflows we have now!
