Question

Is there a way to use predecessors to close project B and complete a task on project B?

We're looking at tying multiple projects to 1 parent project and would like to automate the completion of tasks on the parent project. For example:

Project A is the Parent Project with Tasks 1, 2 and 3. The Tasks are equal to Project B, C and D. If Project B is completed, is there a way to connect the predecessors or projects for Task 1 on Project A to be completed automatically?

Hi Lila,

I suspect the closest you could get would be to create a Task report that (using Handoff Date, Predecessors, and EXISTS) would present "Task 1 on Project A" to the viewer (ideally, along-side the now-complete "Last Task on Project B") so that the user could then easily manually mark it as complete (with the same Last Task on Project B Actual Completion Date, for consistency).

If that's too much work (or happens too frequently), you could automate it using Fusion or our UberCalc solution.

Regards,

Doug
