Question

External Look Up Field and the Workfront App

Does the External lookup field work on the mobile app or am I doing something wrong.

I’m building a request took and I’m using the external look up field to select the user. This works in my request form but while I can see the field on the mobile app (iPhone) I cannot select it. I’m just wondering if it’s me or a limitation of the system before I invest too much time.

I have checked the documentation and also chatted a bit with CX coworker to check what he says. Per this documentation  https://experienceleague.adobe.com/en/docs/workfront/using/administration-and-setup/customize/custom-forms/design-a-form/design-a-form?adobe_brand_concierge_source=bc-adobe it seems like there is no limitation for external lookup fields and mobile apps.

 

But Coworker did mention 

"Complex external lookups (such as API-driven dropdowns or integrations) are supported, but the mobile experience may be less feature-rich compared to desktop"

 

I think it would be the best to open a ticket and ask the support directly.

    I asked Support a few years ago, and then delivered feedback to the PM that external lookups did not work across a number of platforms. At the time, Teams and the mobile app topped the list but my basic takeaway (what gets written into my brain) was that new features for custom forms did not appear to be getting supported across all delivery systems. It made it tough to adopt both a new type of field as well as alternative delivery.
