Exporting and importing different Workfront configurations

I’ve never heard of this being a thing in Workfront. The closest you can come, in my mind, is to build a bunch of reports that help document configurations. You can then export those reports. I’m sure you’d also have to grab a bunch of screenshots for things that might not be so easily reportable.

I have done a complete merge of one Workfront instance into another which would be a similar process to what you’re describing. The options available partly depend on the size and complexity of the instance you want to archive. 

I’d start by carefully looking at the Kick-Start features in Setup. Export everything one by one and see what you get for data. As long as any individual object has less than 50k records, you should have a complete capture. 

Keep in mind that the Kickstart exports will have the unique system-IDs for the previous instance, so reimporting will take some manipulation and practice if it’s a brand-new instance. 

In my project, I was able to leverage those files for a lot, but ultimately not project-level data. That ultimately used some Fusion scenarios I wrote to do the heavy lifting. That enabled us to keep things that can’t be exported easily, like comments and documents.
