Cannot save custom fields on tasks inline.

So I have a custom text field attached to tasks. I customized my project view to include this column. I tried adding text to these fields and it refuses to save inline. However, I went into the task itself, edited the task, and added text to the field there. I saved it, came back to the project view, and it isn’t showing up. But going back into the actual task itself, and editing, I can see the text I added to the field. Is there something going on with custom fields and tasks right now?

I found this issue: https://experienceleague.adobe.com/en/docs/workfront-known-issues/issues/new-workfront-experience/wf-current/wf-tasks-inline-changes-not-saving

But it claims to have been fixed in December. I don’t know if this is related. Is there anything I can check?

It’s kinda starting to put me in a bind. I’m rebuilding Workfront for a team that isn’t really comfortable with the tool. I just want to make sure I get this to them in a way that’s productive.

For the record, I can’t submit a ticket because I’m not high enough permission wise.

I think you may have two separate problems here.

    1. project views do not allow you to inline edit anything outside of project data, so you should not be able to edit your task data. Use a task report for this instead.
    2. your project view isn’t working. If you can post your code, we can collaborate to see how to fix it. Remember to also include what type of field it is.

    Hi @MartieS
I think you’re running int@skyehansen pointed out in #1: A table view in workfront will nveer allow you to edit a field that is not on the type of object on which the view/report is based on. You can display all sorts of child fields - but on a Project report you cannot edit any Task fields.

See if you can get to a similar UI by making it a filtered task report? Then you can inline edit task fields (but not project fields)
